The Marlyn Mercantile Center is a adaptive reuse project to restore and reuse the old Freyer's Hardware Store. Freyer's Hardware was an iconic hardware store in Essex, Maryland that opened in the 1940's and operated for more than 50 years. Freyer's Hardware started off as a general store but grew to a large local hardware store providing a wide range of hardware and building materials to the local community. The restoration of these buildings are designed to bring life back to this area and help bring vibrancy back to Marlyn Avenue.
